Road cycles
The most defining characteristics or road cycles, also called racing cycles, are their light weight and their efficiency, which relates to their aerodynamic shape as well as how the rider fits onto the bike. These cycles feature drop handlebars, which lowers the rider and creates a more aerodynamic posture.
Road cycles, like city cycles, are sometimes used primarily for commuting. However, these cycles are designed to go fast, and also used for racing. For the most part, these bicycles have multiple gears, though single-gear varieties are available.
